BANDSTAND BOOGIE!

OFFICIAL PARADE PARTICIPANTS PAGE

Welcome to the official “Bandstand Boogie” page for participants in the July 4 NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE.  Every year, Gottaswing is invited to participate in the National Independence Day Parade between 7th and 16th Streets, NW, on Constitution Avenue, NW. Accompanied by a vintage 1950s car, costumed dancers walk the parade route, waving to the crowd and dancing as the pace of the parade allows. But the most exciting part is performing the “Bandstand Boogie” dance routine in front of the Reviewing Stand at the parade terminus at 16th Street, NW!

Costumed dancers are welcome to walk the parade route, waving to the crowd and dancing as the pace of the parade allows. We will be performing the routine at the end of the parade route at the reviewing stand at Constitution Avenue, NW/16th Street, NW—PARTNER REQUIRED FOR PERFORMANCE PARTICIPANTS. Support materials will be provided shortly, but you can view the BANDSTAND BOOGIE routine here.

1950s COSTUMING REQUIRED

We’re not going to be super-strict but you should come as close to the look as possible. For example, you don’t have to buy saddle shoes but if not, try to wear white tennis shoes.

Leaders: bowling shirts, saddle shoes or white tennis shoes
Follows: poodle skirts, crinolines, saddle shoes or white tennis shoes
