Musicality–the secret sauce that takes your dancing to the next level. Using both six- and eight-count patterns, you’ll learn how swing music is structured, what to listen for, and how even simple moves have more meaning when they are more closely tied to what you’re dancing to. Suitable for all levels but you should be familiar with eight-count Lindy patterns.

    Collegiate Shag, one of the swing-adjacent dances that arose in the 1920s and ’30s and enjoyed a resurgence with the Great Lindy Hop Revival of 1998. You’ll learn the six-count Shag basic pattern in both open and closed position, how to vary the six-count rhythm, and fun footwork variations.

    Tom loooooves St. Louis Shag! Evolving from Lindy, Collegiate Shag and Charleston, this territory swing dance originated in St. Louis, Missouri in the 1930s, and was re-popularized by St. Louis native Kenny Wetzel when he moved to SoCal in the 1950s. This up-tempo step easily lends itself to switching between Lindy and Charleston patterns. Suitable for all levels.
