    Just like you mix together Charleston, eight-count Lindy Hop (Whips and Circles), and six-count East Coast Swing, you’ll learn how to transition smoothly into and out of Balboa–regardless of tempo and/or music style–and prepare you for more Lollies, Toss-Outs, Out-And-Ins, and other staples of Bal and Bal Swing.  You’ll fine-tune your footwork, focus on finesse, and create a better connection with your partner, the music, and with the dance floor itself.  No previous Balboa experience necessary; suitable for intermediate-level students (should be familiar with six- and eight-count patterns).

    Boogie Woogie is an offshoot of Lindy Hop that developed with the change in musical styles from Big Band to early Rock & Roll and Boogie Woogie piano.  The dance typically involves quick footwork, playful turns, and creative patterns that reflect the improvisational spirit of Boogie Woogie music. Lily and David will teach you how to transform your swing dancing into this beautiful style. Suitable for intermediate-level students.

    Collegiate Shag, one of the swing-adjacent dances that arose in the 1920s and ’30s and enjoyed a resurgence with the Great Lindy Hop Revival of 1998. You’ll learn the six-count Shag basic pattern in both open and closed position, how to vary the six-count rhythm, and fun footwork variations.

This up-tempo step easily lends itself to switching between Lindy and Charleston patterns. Suitable for all levels.
