If you were dancing swing in the DC area in the late 1990s-early 2000s, chances are you Lindy Hopped to the J Street Jumpers. This nine-piece band was ubiquitous at dances, as well as performances for President and Mrs. Clinton, and the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. Now, some members of the band have come together to form MARIANNA AND THE DC JUMPERS, and Gottaswing is delighted to host them for their premier swing dance appearance!
With an all-star lineup consisting of Robbie Lebrick on drums, Tom Ruggieri on saxophone, Steve Shaw on trombone, Tim Ford on keyboards, John Leonard on bass, and Vince McCool on trumpet, the band is headlined by the incomparable Marianna Previti, who’s vocal stylings are not to be missed. We just can’t wait for a night of music that encompasses Harlem swing of the 1930s, L.A. Jump Blues of the 1940s, and classic New Orleans Rhythm and Blues of the 1950s!
