CITY RHYTHM ORCHESTRA has a distinct style and sound that has been popular in their hometown of Philadelphia and around the world for years. Led by Pete Spina and Nick Vallerio, their extraordinary performances are always tremendously entertaining, and have been a big favorite for DC swing dancers since they first played for Gottaswing in 2006. RAY GELATO has been taking his special brand of swing, jazz, and rhythm and blues all over the world since 1988. The “Godfather of Swing” is a multi-talented singer, saxman, songwriter and band leader who has appeared at international festivals, clubs, and concert stages from Brazil to New York City–and Washington, DC! Together, CITY RHYTHM ORCHESTRA and RAY GELATO combine to present a show that can’t be beat. A music critic called them “a match made in swing heaven,” and it shows from the first note you hear. The band sets the table for Ray’s high energy singing and inspired sax playing. Whether saluting Louis Prima and Sam Butera, or simply demonstrating his jazz depth on a great standard, Ray is truly mesmerizing in a live performance. From the Blue Note to Lincoln Center, the City Rhythm—Ray Gelato shows have been enormously successful. DC swing dancers are in for a rare treat!
