Russ Wilson. Singer, drummer, conductor, entrepreneur–Renaissance Man!
Russ has worked as a professional musician for 43 years, making a name for himself playing many different styles of music including jazz, rock, and country, but jazz remains his first true love. After touring and traveling for years playing with various blues bands, he finally decided to start his own band, The Mighty Might Men, in 2001. Since then, he’s gone on to form additional bands such as the Nouveau-Passe Orchestra, playing music from the 1920s and ’30s; the Russ Wilson Swingtette, a Dixieland/swing band; Russ Wilson and His Concert Orchestra, consisting of 40 pieces; and tonight’s group, the 13-piece Famous Orchestra. We’ll saying good-bye to the old year and welcoming the new with a night of classic big band music from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s. It’ll be swell!!
