Annex at the Spanish Ballroom

On Saturday afternoon, world lindy champion Benjamin Ricard will be teaching us his moves! All of the workshops will be held in the Annex (located behind the stage in the Ballroom). Workshops will start at a basic movement level and build up to an exciting, more advanced level. $10 each, cash or check only. Payment at the door.


11:00AM-12:15 From Zero to Hero

Ben will give a lesson in the fundamentals of swing emphasizing the energy and spirit of Lindy Hop. Even if you have a working knowledge of Lindy, Ben's unique teaching method will enhance your basic skills. Appropriate for all levels.


12:30PM-1:45PM Jazz and Spice up your SWING OUT !

Looking to shake up your swing out/whip pattern? Ben will share his secrets on how to incorporate the musicality of jazz into your dance and feel the music (instead of just doing moves)! Requires either Class 1 or a working knowledge of 8 count lindy patterns.


1:45PM-2:30PM Lunch

There are a few small places by Glen Echo to grab food, but it would be a good idea to pack a sandwich and some snacks anyway. There are beverage vending machines in the Ballroom.


2:30PM-3:45PM Tips to Dance Fast

Uncertain about what to do when the music speeds up? Ben reveals his techniques for dancing Fast Lindy and Charleston with connection, control without messing up your hair! Requires either Class 1 or a working knowledge of 8 count lindy patterns.


4:00PM-5:15PM Dance to Impress and Entertain!

Ready for the material that got Ben his World Lindy Championship?  Ben will teach some of is best cool moves, flashy combinations and performance skills. You'll learn these skills while doing a special choreographed routine created just for the Collegiate Weekend. Go from watching the jam to starring in it! Class 2 and 3 required.
