Friday Late Night at Chevy Chase Ballroom with DJs Paul Roth and Craig Sparks
Midnight-?
Too much fun to stop! You can stay up all night if you want to, but remember you have workshops with Ben on Saturday. FREE.
Paul Roth has been Lindy Hopping since the Gap "Khakis Swing" commercial in the late 90's. Please don't hold that against him. Starting in Baltimore in 2000, he began playing swing music as a DJ for local dances and proceeded to play for gigs in MD, VA, PA, and DC. After helping with the first DCLX in 2001, he came back the following year to DJ for his local scene and began his reputation for playing uptempo vintage songs from the 20's through the 40's and covers of the same. He was a popular DJ at the original Jam Cellar in Virginia and the Avalon Studio in Maryland. Today, he's a regular DJ for Tom & Debra's Monday night dances at Chevy Chase Ballroom and plays the occasional gig at Jam Cellar in DC and other local events.
Craig Sparks started DJ-ing eight years ago in the Pittsburgh area. He regularly DJ's in Baltimore, and now runs and DJ's Naptown swing, Annapolis's Wednesday night venue. His style is both familiar and forward with classic swing songs and surprising finds you never knew you could dance to. As a life-long musician, Craig knows that there are amazing songs in every style of music. He makes it his mission to cull the best of each genre to form his collection, all for the purpose of leaving each dancer in a state of exhausted bliss.
