Virginia State Open champions Tom and Debra have been teaching thousands of people to dance Jitterbug and Lindy Hop since 1994. The first to offer an eight-week series, we now teach over 4,000 people how to swing dance each year. With a large selection of locations and nights available, something is sure to fit your schedule. All ages are welcome at all our classes and dances, and you never need a partner (unless specifically noted for special classes). Come on out and join the fun!

Weekly Classes
Our 8-week beginner and intermediate class series has set the standard in swing dance instruction. No partner required and we rotate partners constantly throughout the classes, insuring both that you have the best learning experience possible as well as having a great time socially. Please note: this means that even if you register with a partner, you will not stay together but will change partners. You must be registered for the entire eight-week series; sorry, no drop-ins allowed.

Our beginner class takes you through the basics of swing: basic six-count; eight-count Lindy Whip and Circle; and Charleston, both side-by-side and Back Charleston (you need to be comfortable with this material for our intermediate level). Our intermediate series starts off with a review of the basics (what you need to be comfortable with for that level) and Traveling Charleston. After that, you'll learn a variety of fun and interesting steps. Our beginner series is always exactly the same; material in the intermediate series is always changing, so you can stay with the intermediate series for as long as you like!

We also offer a drop-in 30-minute beginner lesson before our dances with live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and an hour-long lesson before Saturday night dances at the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo, as well as other special events.

Special Classes
We are proud to offer a variety of special classes that allow students to learn different aspects of swing dance: Balboa, Collegiate Shag, styling, technique classes, etc. Smaller classes, shorter duration and more intense in their focus, these classes represent a great opportunity to expand your repertoire and scope.

Private Lessons
Want help with material from the beginner class? Didn't quite get that tricky step from the intermediate class? Want to work on choreographing a song for your wedding dance? Maybe a private lesson is what you need.
